Pumphreys Coffee

Tyne and Wear
North

Pumphreys Coffee traces its origins to 1750, when the business was established by Leigh Smith in the Flesh Market in Newcastle. It passed through various owners over the following centuries and has been based at Bridge Street, Blaydon, Tyne and Wear since 1983. The current site includes a warehouse, roastery, training room and coffee showroom open to the public. The business is family-run by directors Stuart Archer Senior and Stuart Archer Junior. Roasting is done using traditional open flame drums that the company says date back over 80 years, overseen by master roaster Stuart Lee Archer. Pumphreys supplies retail customers online and wholesale accounts, and offers barista training and espresso machine sales. With nearly 275 years of trading history, it is one of the longest-established coffee merchants in the UK.
