Loch Lomond Coffee Co. was founded in 2017 by brothers Stuart and David Fraser in Balmaha, on the eastern shore of Loch Lomond, making it the first coffee roaster on the loch. The brothers had previously opened the St Mocha coffee shop in 2014; the roastery grew from that base when they decided to roast their own rather than continue buying in. The site in Balmaha runs on an unusual self-contained sustainability model. Spent coffee grounds are dried, pelleted and burned in the biomass heating system that powers the site. Deliveries are made using electric vehicles charged on-site by energy generated from over 300 solar panels on the premises. The roastery sells online, runs subscriptions and the St Mocha coffee shop operates from the same Balmaha site.
