Golden Sheep Coffee was started in 2018 by Michael, a composite laminator who spent more than 30 years building cars for F1 motorsport teams before leaving the industry to roast coffee in the Stroud Valleys. The name references the Cotswold Lion, the local sheep breed whose golden fleece powered Stroud's wool and textile industry for centuries. It is a deliberate rooting of the brand in the history of the place. Based in the Cotswolds, Golden Sheep roasts to a medium profile throughout, a conscious choice to produce coffee that works for a wide range of drinkers without chasing trend-driven extremes. Michael brings the same precision to roasting that he applied in motorsport: close attention to sourcing relationships, traceable supply chains, and consistency of result. The business sells online and through local cafés, delis, and farm shops across the region.
