Myanmar, Ywangan, Microlot
This particular coffee is a surprisingly clean example of a naturally processed coffee. Our speciality Ywangan coffee consists of combined daily micro-lots grown (at an altitude of 1280 metres above sea level), by predominantly Danu (and some Pa-O) hill-tribe smallholder farmers in the remote mountainous area of Ywangan in Southern Shan state, Myanmar (Burma). Farmed and supplied by the Mandalay Coffee Group (MCG), it was formed in 2014 and is owned entirely by the citizens of Myanmar. It works with these smallholders, providing support as well as processing the coffee and bringing it to market. The company is based in the town of Pyin Oo Lwin, Mandalay Division. Interestingly, Myanmar possesses the largest expanse of tropical forest in mainland Southeast Asia with substantial biodiversity, harbouring rare species such as the red panda and the Myanmar snub-nosed monkey.
