Indonesia Sumatra, Lake Toba
This coffee is from the island of Sumatra in Indonesia, one of the largest coffee producers today. Grown in a region aptly named after the worlds largest volcanic lake – Lake Toba. These single-origin coffee beans are processed using a unique method, locally known as Giling Basoh, where the hulls of the bean are separated from the cherry. Also known as ‘wet-hulled’ or ‘wet-grinding’ this method helps impart a superb body and complex earthy aromatics, for which Indonesian coffees are justly famed for. Our Indonesian Suamtra has very little acidity, a deep body and a spicy aroma with hints of tobacco, allowing you to almost taste the volcanic ash these coffee beans were grown on. The varietals are Catimor and Typica.
