Brazil, Fazenda Pinhal, Single Origin
Brazil accounts for nearly a third of global coffee production, boasting some of the industry’s most accomplished growers. Yet few can rival the exceptional coffee produced by Fazenda Pinhal, a 914-hectare estate in Sul De Minas, Brazil. At the helm are siblings Pedro Gabarra, a sixth-generation farmer, and his sister Mariana, whose shared passion for coffee and environmental stewardship has shaped the farm’s trajectory. In 2019, the Gabarra estate clinched the title of “most sustainable farm” in Brazil, and the duo have since continued to elevate their already impressive sustainability standards. The harvest, spanning from May to August, sees the coffee mechanically picked and pulped before being laid out on patios to dry for 10 to 14 days. Following the drying process, the coffee rests for a month prior to milling. The green coffee is then transported to the SanCoffee mill in San Antonio Do Amparo, where it undergoes sorting via gravity tables and colour sorters before being bagged and readied for export.
