Mandheling Menagold
Sumatra Mandheling Menagold is bold yet balanced, with a smooth, full body and classic earthy undertones. Rich dark chocolate and sweet cocoa notes lead the cup, lifted by a gentle floral acidity that adds brightness without sharpness. Subtle hints of spice, dried herbs, and cedar linger in the finish, giving it the deep, complex character that makes Sumatran coffee so distinctive. Grown in the lush highlands of Aceh and Lintong at altitudes of 1,300–1,500 metres, Menagold is a distinctive Sumatra Mandheling Arabica with a rich heritage. The volcanic soil and unique Indonesian climate create the perfect environment for cultivating coffees with deep, layered flavours. This coffee is produced by generations of smallholder farmers who work closely with Musfaha Niaga Mandiri, a family run milling company renowned for its meticulous approach to quality. Over 323 farmer groups in North Sumatra contribute to this exceptional blend, with most cherries coming from Hutapaung and Ria Ria in the Dolok Sanggul district, just below the famous Lake Toba. Ripe red cherries are hand picked, wet hulled, and carefully dried before being processed in Medan, ensuring consistency and excellence in every lot. The name Menagold reflects both its origin 'Mena’ for Medan-Aceh, and its quality, ‘gold’ symbolising the luxurious character that defines this coffee.
