This Peruvian coffee offers a clean, balanced cup with notes of citrus, red apple, and soft stone fruit. A gentle caramel sweetness and smooth body round it out, with a bright but approachable acidity. Grown in the highlands of Cajamarca, this coffee comes from a network of smallholder farmers working with the Cooperativa Agraria Frontera San Ignacio. Sitting between 1,350 - 1,890 masl, these farms border the Santuario Nacional Tabaconas Namballe a protected area home to the endangered spectacled bear. Los Amigos del Oso (Friends of the Bear) is more than a name, it’s a conservation project. Through organic farming producers actively protect surrounding forests and wildlife, helping preserve a delicate ecosystem. Sustainability is central to the project. Coffee cherry is composted into natural fertiliser, reducing waste and chemical use, while native trees are replanted to restore biodiversity. Improved drying and fermentation systems help maintain quality, and as more farmers join, the project continues to expand its environmental and social impact. Carefully washed and processed at origin, this coffee reflects both the richness of its landscape and the dedication of the people behind it.
