Coban is a small city and region in north-central Guatemala, Famous for its coffee plantations since the 19th century. Cobán is a historic coffee-growing area, celebrated since the 19th century for producing high-quality Arabica beans . Nestled among lush mountains and fertile volcanic soil, this region is renowned for its unique microclimate , which is said to experience two seasons: rainy and rainier , creating ideal conditions for slow, even bean maturation. In fact, the name Cobán comes from the Maya Keckchi word meaning “place of clouds. It is literally a rainforest: cloudy, cool, with only a few sunlight hours per day. Handpicked and expertly hand roasted by Penningtons, each batch embodies our commitment to excellence.
