Karambi
A clean, vibrant washed Red Bourbon from Nyamasheke, Rwanda. Nectarine and blood orange notes, roasted for espresso and filter. The Karambi Washing Station sits in the Nyamasheke District of Rwanda's Western Province, built in 2016 and the only station constructed from the ground up by RWACOF. It works with more than 755 smallholder farmers, most farming less than a hectare, of whom over 66% are women. After harvest, cherries go through flotation to remove lower-quality fruit, then hand-sorting by station staff inspecting each batch for defects. Selected cherries are rinsed and laid on raised drying beds in thin layers, raked regularly for even drying over around three weeks. The result is what you'd hope for from this altitude and this much care: vibrant, clean, and fruit-forward, with the brightness that defines well-processed Rwandan Red Bourbon. More about this coffee
