Unavailable About Profile The Rungeto Farmer’s Cooperative Society was established in 1997 by 1,150 farmers who, as a group, reinvigorated coffee growing and processing in their local area. They re-opened three processing mills (locally referred to as coffee factories); Kii, Karimikui, and Kiangoi. The cooperative has gone from strength to strength and today has over 7,800 members. We visited Kii earlier this year (2025) meeting with Danson Kangi (Factory Manager) and Samuel Karanja (Rungeto Cooperative Manager) and touring their facilities. Kii Factory is a large mill which processes around ten containers of green coffee a season, this equates to 3000 60kg bags of coffee. Our very small shipment of this coffee is just less than 1% of the total produced! In addition to coffee, many of the growers have dairy cows and deliver milk to Rungeto’s dairy farm. The cooperative society sells milk and dairy products to the local markets. We use the word cafetière, but this can also be referred to as a French press, plunger or press pot. Aeropress slow Suitable for making a long, filter style coffee, often brewed for a few minutes. Similar to our paper filter setting. Filter This is suitable for our paper filters and ceramic or plastic cones, along with other brands such as V60, Clever dripper and Melitta. Stovetop This is an espresso style grind suitable for use in hob top espresso pots such as a Bialetti or Grunwerg. Sometimes referred to as a moka pot. Aeropress fast This is also an espresso style grind ideal for brewing a short, concentrated, espresso style coffee in an Aeropress. Domestic espresso A fine grind for using in your home espresso machine. Grind requirements will vary depending on brand and model, but this setting aims to work for the majority of home setups.
