Unavailable About Profile It has been a wonderful year for José Antonio Barrantes Zuñiga (Toño) at Finca Telia – Herbazú. Toño was recognised as a ‘Legend of Excellence’ by the Alliance of Coffee Excellence (the organisation that runs the Cup of Excellence programme). This special designation was given to only six farmers worldwide and was based on the number of winning entries, across multiple competition years, that the farmer had received. The award is a recognition of the Barrantes family’s achievements since they led the micro-mill revolution in Costa Rica. The award also considered the work the family has done in the areas of coffee education, environment, and local industry. We have been buying coffee from Finca Telia for many years now and are always delighted when the new crop arrives on the counter, especially when it coincides with the UK apple and quince harvest season.
