The new crop, full of fresh-fruit notes and juicy acidity, is always highly anticipated. We have been buying coffee from Octavio Rueda for over twenty years now and watched as he has made many improvements to his property including upgrades to his micro-beneficio. Recently, Octavio gifted a coffee plot to his daughter Fanny, and her husband John Freddy – both are just starting their coffee farming careers and are fortunate to have Octavio’s support. It’s wonderful when we see the next generation starting to grow coffee. In previous years the younger generation has been discouraged by low prices and instability, but Fanny and John Freddy have seen first hand the impact of the specialty coffee market providing better pricing and longer-term commitments. Process Traditional Washed Process Varietal Bourbon and Castillo Region Los Olivos, Huila Grind Guide Cafetière A coarse grind also suitable for cold brew. We use the word cafetière, but this can also be referred to as a French press, plunger or press pot. Aeropress slow Suitable for making a long, filter style coffee, often brewed for a few minutes.
