Permata Gayo
Permata Gayo Cooperative is based in the Bener Meriah district of Aceh Province, at the northern tip of Sumatra. Founded in 2006 by 50 farmers who joined forces to rebuild their livelihoods through coffee, the cooperative has since grown steadily. In 2007, it achieved organic certification, followed by Fairtrade Organic (FTO) status in 2009. Today, the cooperative counts 2,053 members across 39 villages in the region.
