Zambia Kateshi Estate Natural is an award-winning specialty coffee from Zambia’s Northern Province. Grown at 1,350 metres, this exceptional lot comprises Castillo and Catimor 129 varietals that undergo meticulous double handpicking to ensure a 98% ripeness standard. Processed using the natural method and slow-dried on raised beds for 3 to 4 weeks, it delivers a wildly complex, vibrant cup. Expect a striking flavor profile bursting with bright lime candy, a rich boozy complexity, and a smooth, comforting nutty finish that makes it an incredibly rewarding choice for adventurous coffee lovers. Established in 1972 near Kateshi village, Kateshi Estate is one of Zambia’s pioneering coffee estates and currently serves as the heart of coffee production in the northern region. Following a massive infrastructure rejuvenation by Olam in 2012, the estate has grown to become the largest coffee producer and the single largest employer in the entire country. Beyond producing award-winning lots that rank at the top of Zambia’s annual Taste of Harvest competition, Kateshi boldly challenges regional gender stereotypes by being the first estate to employ women in traditionally male-dominated roles, such as driving tractors and bulldozers.
