Bukonzo
Tasting notes Citrus • Caramel • Light berries Grown on the fertile slopes at the foot of the Rwenzori Mountains, this washed Ugandan coffee comes from smallholder farmers delivering freshly picked cherries to Bukonzo’s network of local washing stations. The region around Kasese offers high altitudes, rich volcanic soils and consistent rainfall—ideal conditions for producing clean, vibrant Arabica coffees. Bukonzo Co-operative was formed to help farmers achieve better prices for their coffee by investing in quality-focused processing. Today, cherries are carefully sorted by density, pulped, and fermented for around 24 hours before being washed and dried on raised beds. The result is a bright, balanced cup with lively citrus notes, soft caramel sweetness and a delicate berry finish. A clean, versatile coffee that works beautifully as both espresso and filter.
