Aquiares
Mariana is a notable F1 hybrid cultivar, sharing a close genetic relationship with Starmaya. This cultivar results from the crossbreeding of IAPAR 59 with a male-sterile Ethiopian landrace variety. Unlike many F1 hybrids, Mariana is among the first F1-hybrids ever to be propagated from seeds instead of through tissue cloning techniques. Ok wow... I was just about to write that it was cool if you are a nerd, then I read a bit more about it and I caught myself thinking how cool it was, so am I nerd? Maybe, but that's fine, this nerd likes the fact that he can taste something reminiscent of a good Ethiopian natural in a new variety that's more resistant to climate change. “Aquiares is a place many view with pride because of how unbelievably well the community and the coffee company have developed together, forming a truly symbiotic relationship.” These are the words of Alfonso Robelo, president of Aquiares, and father of Diego who now Head of Production. Alfonso is an interesting character for sure, and the sentiment expressed in the quote is bang on. Aquiares stands out as one of the rare utopias in coffee production that our messed-up world has allowed to thrive. Aquiares Estate actually has a wicked website which is rare in this industry, on there they share much more comprehensive info on the farm and it's practices, as well as offering accommodation and farm stay experiences... maybe it's your next holiday destination? Actually, if you do click the link and decide to go stay there, take Diego a Cuppers bag and get him to text Harley with a picture of it, we'll give you a years supply of free coffee for a successful mission. https://www.aquiares.com/our- story Oh yeah, red honey process is like regular honey process but with more shade, by regular honey process I think I mean white honey process, but I had to read this blog post to be sure. https://perfectdailygrind.com/ 2017/02/yellow-red-black- honey-processed-coffees-whats- the-difference/
